New CPD Program helps ensure the excellence of your profession!

Jerome Ferber

As 2012 begins, we’re very proud of the new SCMP Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program which was officially rolled out on January 1st.  You can find all the details and FAQ’s on the CPD document on the AIPMAC website.

The new CPD program and points criterion for maintenance of your accreditation replaces the “Maintenance of Certification” program.  The new program is a stronger reflection of what a Supply Chain professional strives to achieve to attain the goal of “being on top of the game” in the industry.  The enhanced CPD is also nationally standardized to ensure consistency in excellence for both the accredited professional and the employer-organization.  The new program provides an opportunity for our members to excel and even surpass the expectations in the field.  It’s also an investment towards your potential as you prepare yourself for the forecasted and sometimes unforeseen challenges of the future.

Although the requirement to maintain your SCMP accreditation continues to be earning 30 credits within a three-year period, the new format and points allocation provides new avenues to make this an achievable, rewarding and sustainable goal.

Some examples of the ways to earn credits include participation in Continuing Education activities through courses, conferences, workshops and other learning experiences.  You can also share your experience and knowledge by teaching others or writing published material.  Getting involved as a volunteer in the profession provides you the satisfaction of making a difference as a community leader, enhancing your networking opportunities and accruing points.  Details are included in the CPD document on the website.

To the many of you already taking advantage of these member benefits; we thank you.  Some of you may have been considering taking workshops, volunteering, or sharing your experience; here’s your opportunity to step forward.  After all, you all deserve the credit of your efforts in ensuring the excellence of your profession.
